GALAPAGOS TOUR 2009, A REALITY!!!

59_Galapagos-Scenic2.jpg

I’m writing another newsletter back-to-back today as I wanted to share my excitement and news about the upcoming tour. I’ve been planning for a number of years to go back to the fabulous Galapagos Islands. Naturally, the photography “opps” has me excited to share with you all, and of course just being there is memorable in itself, but I’m also delighted because I finally have been able to book the type of accommodations that I feel, from my experience, is perfect for all our needs….which is the reason it has taken me a couple of years to put together.

Those of you who know me pretty well are aware that I know my way around boats, boating, and the water, you know I’m very adept regarding camera gear and our needs in that department, and most of all, I LOVE my ‘creature comforts’!! Even if one didn’t take a single picture, but just sat back on deck and enjoyed the scenery and luxury, this trip would be a terrific experience!!

Some details: I’ve secured an 82’ long (with a 33 foot beam) Naval steel motor catamaran from April 23rd thru May 7th, 2009 (15 days/14 nights) with a full experienced crew, and naturalist/guide. This craft is absolutely beautiful in every way and well worth my waiting this long for its availability. Eight very spacious cabins accommodate her guests offering individual climate control, private bathrooms with shower and tub, closets and direct ocean view. She is fully air-conditioned and features a large dining room, living room and bar, inside and outside bars, three different solariums and BBQ area. There are two zodiacs which will carry us to the enchanted Islands of the Galapagos.

My first 16-day trip to the Galapagos was merely a “teaser”, which has left me “chomping at the bit” to return to this unique & captivating part of the world to hang out with the Blue and Red-footed Boobies, sea lions, land & sea iguanas, shoot fabulous scenics from the deck of this stable. sea-worthy ‘floating hotel’ (imagine the wonderful images of sunrises and sunsets & their reflections over the ocean you can create).

“How much is this going to cost?” you ask? Well the fact of matter is I don’t know at this very moment. Why, I’m not sure but the owners have informed me that they will have figures in place after April 20th... not before. In the meantime, they have blocked off those dates for me and my group solely, for which I’m grateful. As soon as I know, you will know because they are going to want a deposit from me immediately, I’m sure of that !!! As you no doubt can figure out, space will be limited to no more than 16 people. If you are at all interested and can make the trip at that date, please let me know as soon as possible as there have been quite a few of you that have inquired about my Joanne Williams Tour to the Enchanting islands of the Galapagos.

Photo Researchers, Editors, and Publishers:

As stated in previous newsletters, at no obligation to you, send me a “want list” of images you are looking for that may coincide with a trip I’m about to take, or have recently taken, and I’ll do my very best to seek out that subject and shoot it with your request in mind. This may save you some expense, give me a specific mission and possibly a sale of that image. It’s a ‘win, win situation’!

A quick reminder that my library of 35mm original slides houses approximately 75,000 images, and my digital library presently holds over 41,000 (and growing-hourly)!
