Just want to report in and share how much fun I had on my recent return visit (and ‘recon’ mission) back to one of my favorite ‘photo-spots’ on the St. Johns River up in the Deland area. It was a bit chilly, but sunny with that crystal clear blue sky (making it very necessary to keep an eye on my histogram and testing my compensation abilities). The wildlife is everywhere and Spring is most certainly almost here….. “Love is in the Air” !!!!

  57_FotoBoat.jpg

The customized-by-me Foto Boat and my pontoon boat both served me well navigating into shallow areas so I could photograph ‘up close and personal’ many images of limpkins, ospreys, pied-billed grebes, many species of ducks, dozens of little blue herons, white and young immature ibis, wood storks, alligators & turtles sunning themselves. The dark waters created by the river’s tannic acid make reflection shots absolutely gorgeous and picturesque. It seemed that around every bend in the river there was a new photo opportunity! I can’t imagine that those of you who have signed up for my Florida Adventure trip the end of March are not going to drive away with some wonderful shots by the end of the short journey!!!

There are two openings left for this tour. I talked to the owner of one of the Fazendas (ranch) and the most exciting news was shared…..a baby jaguar was recently born and hopefully we will be allowed to get pictures of the little guy. It is also that wonderful time of year where most of the young birds will have hatched and either be standing tall in the nests or on nearby branches getting ready to fly.

The Lighthouse Point Yacht Club is hosting the 14th Annual Art Exhibit on March 16, 2008 from 11:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m. which is open to the public at no charge. The location is 2701 NE 42nd St., Lighthouse Point. I, along with many other artists, will have a display booth with informative brochures available about my various tours, prints and greeting cards for sale. If you have any questions on the ‘how-tos’ of wildlife photography or wish to have an image professionally critiqued, I will be available, or just come by and say hello!!!

Photo Researchers, Editors, and Publishers:

As stated in previous newsletters, at no obligation to you, send me a “want list” of images you are looking for that may coincide with a trip I’m about to take, or have recently taken, and I’ll do my very best to seek out that subject and shoot it with your request in mind. This may save you some expense, give me a specific mission and possibly a sale of that image. It’s a ‘win, win situation’!

A quick reminder that my library of 35mm original slides houses approximately 75,000 images, and my digital library presently holds over 41,000 (and growing-hourly)!

My website holds an in-depth Stock Shop for your quick review: www.joannewilliamsphoto.com
